Cobra Verde

Slavetrader

Cobra Verde is a complete re-writing of the film of the same name starring Klaus Kinski. It explores the thinking of the time, the root causes of slavery and the mentality of those who took part in the trading of people. It begins as a quaint period piece tale but soon slips into unsavoury discord.

The story is fictional but relies heavily on the history of its time, what was the cutting edge ideas of this period, how philosophical ideas back up by scientific theories of the age permiated into the wider society. It is a cold harsh look at the history of racism.

What it achieves is not to throw the morality of the 21st century back on the people involved with slavery but to identify the elements of historic thinking that are still present in our society today.

Ready for production from August
